This program ensures that the lived experiences and priorities of African women with disabilities are represented in global policy spaces and translated into tangible change at the national and regional levels.<\/p><p>DIWA engages directly with key UN treaty bodies, including the\u00a0Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the\u00a0Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and the Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (CESCR). DIWA provides training and tools that enhance knowledge of constitutional rights, treaty frameworks, and accessible justice systems, empowering women at grassroots and national levels to participate meaningfully in law reform and monitoring processes.<\/p><div class=\"highlight-box\"><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The program\u2019s strategic priorities include:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>UN Treaty Body Engagement \u2013 preparing and submitting alternative reports, participating in treaty reviews, and following up on concluding observations.<\/li><li>Legal Empowerment and Access to Justice \u2013 equipping women with disabilities with legal literacy, advocacy, and case documentation skills.<\/li><li>Accountability and Monitoring\u2014tracking state compliance with CRPD, CEDAW, and other human rights instruments.<\/li><li>Partnerships for Legal Reform \u2013 collaborating with human rights organizations, national human rights institutions (NHRIs), and legal aid networks to ensure inclusive justice.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/div><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Through this program, DIWA has participated in treaty review processes, including Malawi\u2019s CEDAW and CRPD reviews, delivered statements before UN Committees, and supported women-led organizations in drafting reports and contributing to policy recommendations.
