& VISIBILITY PROGRAM

The Research, Knowledge Management and Visibility Program anchors DIWA’s work in evidence, documentation, and communication. It ensures that the experiences, voices, and contributions of women and girls with disabilities are captured, analyzed, and amplified to inform policies, influence practice, and transform narratives across Africa.

Through this program, DIWA conducts research, produces reports, and documents case studies that highlight the realities, challenges, and successes of women and girls with disabilities in diverse contexts. These evidence-based insights support DIWA’s advocacy at national, regional, and continental levels and guide the design of inclusive policies and programs.

“Evidence is power. When our stories are documented, our existence cannot be denied, and our voices become tools for change.” – DIWA Executive Director

This program focuses on strengthening the generation, management, and dissemination of knowledge produced by and for women with disabilities. It also enhances DIWA’s visibility and thought leadership through publications, digital storytelling, and media engagement.

Key focus areas include:
  • Research and Evidence Generation – conducting qualitative and quantitative studies on gender, disability, and inclusion to inform policy and advocacy.
  • Knowledge Management and Learning – building internal systems to collect, store, and share information, reports, and lessons from DIWA’s programs and member organizations.
  • Documentation and Storytelling – amplifying lived experiences through publications, success stories, and multimedia platforms.
  • Visibility and Communications – strengthening DIWA’s online and media presence through strategic communication, campaigns, and knowledge-sharing events.
