Inclusive and Empowered Feminist Movements in Africa
INCLUSIVE AND EMPOWERED
FEMINIST MOVEMENTS
IN AFRICA
DIWA in collaboration with COVAW are implementing a United Nations Trust Fund (UNTF) to End Violence against Women and Girls (EVAWG) supported project dubbed “Inclusive and Empowered Feminist Movements in Africa.” The project, which started in November 2024, is being implemented in Kenya, Malawi, and Rwanda. The project aims to ensure that women and girls with disabilities are increasingly at the center of EVAWG efforts, rather than at the margins.
The goal of the project is to ensure that the sub-regional EVAW/G movement of women and girls with disabilities in East and Southern Africa is strengthened and well organized to collaboratively and proactively advocate for their rights, participate, and lead EVAW/G movements.
The expected outcomes of the project are:
- Women and girls with disabilities and mainstream EVAW/G actors collaborate effectively through strengthened capacity and joint advocacy to address violence against women and girls with disability in East and Southern Africa.
- Evidence-based advocacy strategies, informed by project learnings and data, strengthen sub-regional efforts to end violence against women and girls with disabilities.
